GENDER EQUITY EPIC FAIL!

Now, when it comes to Condoleezza Rice, I do not ideologically agree with her, and I think that a lot of the decisions she made in the Bush Administration were wrong.  However, I respect her accomplishments and her intelligence; it cannot be argued that she is a very smart and extremely well-educated lady.

So when I read this, it was hard not to puke.

She was the NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR AND  THE SECRETARY OF STATE.   COUNTRIES GOT INVADED ON HER SAY-SO.  SHE GUIDED THE HAND THAT HAD THE FINGER ON THE FUCKING BUTTON AND YOU’RE ASKING HER IF SHE WANTS A PRETTY PRINCESS DRESS WHEN SHE GETS MARRIED?

Jesus wept.

Anyone who says that sexism is dead will be hearing from my Second in the morning.

  1. Hear hear! I was reading the comments on that post about so many women verbally castigated by their own family and friends for either a) not getting married or b) not interested in having children and for not keeping those two "goals" prominently at the top of the list. I then thought about myself as an only child of an only child on my dad's side, and an early orphan (age 11) on my mom's side that outside of my own parents I too was harassed constantly for not showing obvious effort to "build a family" until 2009 when my husband died. Now, whenever I meet someone inclined to busy themselves with my state of procreation I effectively kill that impulse with my new classification of being a "widow." Widow-hood is strangely liberating - people seem to think I had my chance and it was tragically taken from me so any further effort would be gallant but not expected. However, by the same token as a widow I'm also undateable. I think men think I was somewhat to blame in the passing of my husband or something...
